Our mission

Osez le Féminisme

Osez le Féminisme is a French feminist organisation founded in 2009 and officially recognised as serving the public interest. We campaign for gender equality, women’s rights and lasting social change. We fight all forms of male violence against women and girls through grassroots action, advocacy, litigation and awareness-raising campaigns across France and Europe.

What we do

Osez le Féminisme campaigns on a wide range of feminist issues and against all forms of male violence against women.

We challenge male domination and the exploitation of women’s bodies, promote women’s cultural and historical heritage, defend abortion rights, resist the far right and campaign for a justice system that protects victims.

We are campaigning for a comprehensive framework law on sexual violence, backed by the resources needed to bring about lasting change.

With twelve local branches across France, Osez le Féminisme is also active at European and international levels through networks including the European Women’s Lobby and the Brussels’ Call.

Our history :

Osez le Féminisme was founded in 2009 following a campaign to defend the French Planned Parenthood, which was facing funding cuts. A group of around ten women decided to build on this mobilisation by creating a new feminist organisation. The organisation soon launched its own newspaper, organised its first nationwide actions and developed new forms of feminist activism, both on the streets and online.

Over the years, Osez le Féminisme has become a prominent voice in feminist campaigns across France. We campaign against male violence, rape culture and femicide ; for sexual and reproductive rights and greater visibility for women in public life ; and for the abolition of sexual exploitation. Our campaigns and advocacy have contributed to major advances in women’s rights, from removing « Mademoiselle » from official administrative forms to the adoption of France’s 2016 abolitionist law and, later, the extension of assisted reproductive technology to all women.

Since 2020, Osez le Féminisme has stepped up its work to challenge impunity for sexual violence in the pornography industry. Public campaigning, support for victims, legal action and strategic litigation have become central to our work, alongside awareness-raising and advocacy.

Today, Osez le Féminisme continues this work in France and across Europe. We campaign in particular against technology-facilitated violence and online sexual exploitation, while helping to build a broad and united feminist movement. We co-coordinate the Feminist and Children’s Rights Coalition for a Comprehensive Law against Sexual Violence, which brings together more than 100 organisations and, in 2025, put forward a 78-measure bill backed by 109 members of the French Parliament.

Since 2009, our work has been driven by the same ambition : to dismantle patriarchy and bring about lasting social change in order to achieve substantive equality between women and men.
